- E/A: According to Esquire magazine "The surging opium industry, which has risen to prominence in response to a number of changes to American drug policy and Mexican economic stagnation. Many of Guerrero's poppy fields lie on steep hillsides, which have proved treacherous for adult farmers, so many of the workers gleaning opium from the poppies-which will eventually be refined into heroin-are children." Children are the ones harvesting heroin since there is no other way to make faster money they do it.
- E/A:The Business Inside said "Heightened American demand for the drug has been spurred on by a crackdown on painkiller abuse, which has pushed users to search for a new high. Impoverished farmers in Mexico, as well as opportunistic drug cartels working in both countries, have capitalized on the rise in demand for the lucrative drug." Drug cartels have increased their drug harvesting because they know Americans abuse painkillers and that makes them most likely to buy the drug.

And not only that, these wars are counterproductive: they lead to both increased violence, increased drug use, increased economic instability and decreased investment, among a whole host of other negative impacts." The drug issue is not only in Mexico but all over the world and the thing is this war is not winnable this issue is just increasing more violence in all parts of the world.
